WESTERN HEMISPHERE EDUCATION CENTER

Western Hemisphere Education Center

This new facility on the outskirts of Houston is the epicenter for all Baker Hughes personnel training in the Western Hemisphere. The 91,205 sf. Classroom Building is the primary venue for classroom, lecture type learning and is a three story steel frame structure covered with glass, Arriscraft siding, and aluminum panels. The common areas within the building include multiple soft break-out conference areas, large auditorium, Starbucks coffee bar, and a two story atrium specifically designed to create a collaborative environment via furnishings and state of the art audio/visual activities. The Workshop Building houses 53,000 sf. of “hands on” learning workshops, laboratories, locker rooms, and a full service Canteen and kitchen. This building is a combination tilt wall, high bay work shop and a low bay steel and glass structure. A large yard training area includes a full size, operating Drilling Rig, Wireline Structure and adjacent classroom, Pressure Pumping Canopy and classroom, Wash Bay building, and R/A Storage building. The Drilling Rig and Wireline Structures required large, cast-in-place concrete foundations.
